Hey You!

Hey Sheep, you want to be my friend?

Hey Peacock, you want to be my friend?

Hey Goat, you want to be my friend?

Hey Emma, you want to be my friend?

Well, the answer to all of these questions was no, but sometimes you just have to have the self confidence and cahonas to keep asking. Luckily, the Plum does not lack for confidence.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Emma G!

blah blogger

Sorry for the lack of post. Every time I try to blog with pictures, I get no where. Pretty peeved about it. Just be assured that my kid is still super cute and that there are many more pictures documenting said cuteness from Emma's birthday part last weekend.

A New Year

To the Plum:

We said goodbye to 2011 with the Lees, only at like 9:00. We learned that you still HATE fireworks and I hate anyone making noises that will either scare you or wake you up in the middle of the night.

You wanted Nic's chair. When he would not just give it to you, you sat on him. You are a bad friend like that.

I hope y'all will be life long friends. If so, we have some pictures of y'all bathing together that I'm going to break out at senior night or a wedding rehearsal.

Nonnie and PawPaw wanted you to spend the night with them tonight. You are going through this real mama phase right now. Daddy can't do anything to comfort you nor can Nonnie. So when I left today, you got upset which upset me. I told your daddy that there is not anywhere else on earth that I would leave you when I didn't have to but at Dog Road. I know that spending time with your Nonnie and PawPaw makes memories that you will cherish for the rest of your life, just like I do with my memories of spending the night with PapPaw and MamMaw. Here you are tonight enjoying your "after bath snack" with PawPaw.

Nonnie and PawPaw are planning where to take you this summer on the "Big Bus." That is what you call the new RV. You kept wanting to ride on the Big Bus so they took you to spend the night in the Walmart parking lot Christmas night since it was closed. Yes, they are that head over heels in love with you and you loved it.

It seems like 2011 was over in the blink of an eye. We kicked it off one year ago today by all (along with several other friends at the same NYE party including the Lees) becoming so violently ill that I wasn't sure if we would survive. The verdict is still out on whether it was a super virus or food poisoning, medical minds differ. I felt queasy today just thinking about it. It is the only time that I have been too sick to go to you when you cried. Luckily, I had already called Nonnie and PawPaw from the bathroom floor when I heard Daddy in the other bathroom. I knew we were screwed and in it for the long haul. They showed up just after midnight that night to pick you up. You waited until y'all were at the end of our neighborhood before you threw up all over their car. From there, y'all had a harrowing trip to the Walmart in the middle of the night for supplies. This trip did nothing to improve your grandparents' opinion of Vicksburg. Apparently, there was a domestic disturbance over whether to purchase beer or cigarettes along with some unsavory characters in the parking lot there left a lasting and much talked about impression. All of this leads Nonnie and PawPaw to opine on the trashiness of our town and the Walmart in-particular. Its not classy like the Hazelhurst Walmart. Good times.

Here is to hoping that 2012 starts off better than 2011!

My Family

Last night we celebrated a special wedding in our family. We are so happy to welcome Christopher into our family and wish he and Emily every happiness in marriage.

Here is my family. Outside of religion, these people make my world go around. They each love John Hinton in ways that I could never have imagined and will shape him in ways that he will not realize until he has his own children.

Excuse my mother, she has the inability to take a good picture which is saying something since she is so stinking cute. She was talking in that one and has her closed in this one. Still, I think it is a great picture of my parents.

Two of favorite men: my cousin, John Martin, and my brother, Chris.

Everyone had a good time, but I'm not sure anyone had as much fun as Plum. He danced and danced and ate sausages and cake off of strangers' plates.

Happy New Year! Thank you, God, for your blessings and challenges in 2011. We are grateful for each one.
